Qatar has topped the list of Arab countries in the Global Education Quality Index issued by the World Economic Forum in Davos 2021. According to the report, Qatar ranked fourth in the world and first in the Arab world in education quality, followed by the UAE in second place in the Arab world and tenth in the world, and Lebanon ranked third in the Arab world and 25th globally, as reported by Al-Sharq.
The ranking of the Arab countries came next, Bahrain (33), Jordan (45), Saudi Arabia (54), Tunisia (84), Kuwait (97), Morocco (101), Oman (107), Algeria (119) and Mauritania (134), while Egypt ranked last in the Arab world, and 139 globally out of 140 countries included in the Davos Education Quality Index.
Libya, Sudan, Somalia, Iraq, Syria and Yemen are out of the index completely this year.
As for the first place in the world, it went to Singapore, followed by Switzerland in second place, and Finland in third place.
The ranking of countries in the report is based on the Global Competitiveness Index set by the forum. The index scores are calculated by collecting general and special data related to about 12 basic categories. These categories are institutions, innovation, macroeconomic environment, health, basic education, university education, training, commodity market efficiency, labour market efficiency, capital market development, technological readiness, market size, and technology.
